The Cortez Effect:
Mexican Americans' inability to resist the influence and/or advice of Europeans even knowing that the European may do them harm and may have already demonstrated injurious behavior.
This was clear when a European (contractor) was a proven liar and thief, however, the Mexican American (government administrator) continued to rely on his advice, offer excuses for the Europeans missteps and ignore the advice of those who were honest, fair, and demonstrated goodwill toward the Mexican American.
